On Friday from 6-8 pm, 1/20/17, we held our SECOND annual Wellness Fair at CMS! We are proud to report that 241 people showed up - way more than last year, and more than the 167 registrations we got on our flyer! The Wellness Fair was split up into four main time slots - the registration in which participants checked their name off the list of attendees and picked their very first sessions, and three sessions afterwards, in which people could choose from the following options:
- Mindful YOU - to teach about mindfulness (both informal and formal)
- Yoga 101 - instructing people on basic yoga poses
- DIY Mindfulness - where participants could make stress balls with orbeez, learn how to bullet journal or zen doodle, and make a glitter jar
- Therapy Dogs with AIR - attendees could pet adorable puppies to reduce stress
- Mindful Drumming - where our group members led a drum circle with the help of Mr. Beste and Ms. Gans to reduce stress
- Read-aloud - where smaller children could learn what mindfulness is through picture books
We also included mindful eating and coloring in the commons, where people could pop in between sessions to participate in as well. We provided healthy snacks along with instructions on how to eat mindfully, and zen coloring pages with colored pencils.

We put up posters around the school to direct people to their sessions. There was also a large poster next to the station people chose their sessions at to direct them around the school.

In the commons, we set out glitter jars that we had made previously so that people could try out a glitter jar meditation while waiting for the next session to start.
We want to thank the following people for contributing to our Wellness Fair - we couldn't have done it without you!
- Mrs. Miele - for supervising and helping lead Mindful YOU
- Ms. Rosenberg - for helping direct Yoga 101 in the gym
- Mr. Beste & Ms. Gans - for helping out with drum circling in the music room
- Trish Baker & Attitudes in Reverse - for bringing in therapy dogs for our Wellness Fair participants and teaching people about the powers of pets!
- Ms. Maher - for supervising read-aloud for the little ones
- Mrs. Panchagnula - for supervising DIY Mindfulness
And, finally, Dr. MC, for helping us organize the Wellness Fair and communicate with administration - thank you!
