Mental Health Webinar Success!

On Saturday, December 12, we hosted our second Mental Health Webinar of this year. We learned about mental health and virtual learning from our panelists Alisha DeLorenzo, Gill McClean, and Kimberley Harrington. Our panelists discussed topics such as teacher wellness, administrative roles in online learning, and strategies for students to cope with stress during virtual school.

Our panel discussion was very successful in part because of the audience interaction we received. Because we live-streamed the event on Youtube as it was happening, the parents, teachers, and administrators listening in were able to ask questions in real time. In addition to adding to our Q&A section, the audience interaction definitely made us feel more like we were hosting the event in person, despite being over zoom.


One idea that was explored in the webinar was the importance of teacher well-being during these stressful times. Administrators need to recognize that teachers and educators need just as much support as students do, which may include mental health lessons, mindfulness activities, and flexibility. Next, we discussed how teacher and student relationships can be vital to maintaining student wellness during this time. Because it is very hard for people to form connections over zoom,
